1st place Award – September 2016 WPS Image Competition

As part of my efforts to creating stronger, better and more meaningful wedding imagery over the past year, i’ve been really focusing on my wedding photography and what is important about it. Specifically combining amazing lighting and strong technique with real emotion to create award winning wedding photography. It’s not always easy, to be honest, because you have to know what & where you need something before it happens. Many times, not all 3 things come into alignment but when they do, you have a great shot that people really take notice of.

One of those images, captured late last year, was submitted to the September 2016 WPS monthly image competition for “exits”. The shot was taken at Prestonwood Country Club during the exit in which fake snow was used to send the happy couple off. Photographing wedding exits is an exercise in controlled chaos. You often have, well, lubricated guests, projectiles and exuberance that can, at times, exceed the expectations of everyone, including the photographer. I am honored to announce the below photo, won 1st place in the category of exits.

I want to thank the hard working folks over at the WPS for both holding the competitions and all they do for the industry.
