Wedding - Bart & Jessica

I traveled to Winston-Salem this weekend to photograph a fellow photographers wedding. Both Bart & Jessica were an absolute pleasure to work with and their ceremony & reception were held at a very photogenic location in Winston-Salem called SECCA. Having a ceremony by the water and a reception inside a restored, well, mansion (for lack of a better word) really lent itself to capturing some great images.

I wanted to thank both Bart & Jessica again for having me be a part of their day. Scroll down to see a few select shots of their celebration!

We had lots and lots of great natural light to work with.

During the ceremony, they performed a stick ritual which involves the binding of two sticks, one from each of their childhood homes.

Updated Portfolios!

Please take a few minutes to view my updated online wedding & commercial portfolios. I’ve added my most recent work as well as update the software player used to render it.

Wedding - Josh & Lauren

I had the great pleasure of photographing Josh & Lauren this weekend in a beautiful church in Durham, NC. They were a great couple to work with and I wish them all the best for many years to come.

How could you not take a photo of this little guy?

The church had some beautiful light filtering through a stain glass window that I took advantage of.

Again, great natural light makes even the small details really come to life.

Tis the season for giving

I’m sure you know one of those people that give their spare time up for a worthy cause?  Well, I met Pier Williamson, who volunteers with KidsPeace and was voted by his peers to be the most dedicated volunteer they have.  Cary Magazine will be featuring Pier in the Nov/Dec edition along with 3 other volunteers who donate their time to a worthy cause.  During our photo shoot, I ran into a small issue - how to show what Pier does without having any kids available?  Well, you can see what I came up with below.  My hat’s off to Pier who was such a good sport with this.  Even though you can’t see it in this photo, he is about 6′ tall so this was not the most comfortable position for him to get into.

Take a seat…

The take a seat auction, benefiting Cary Visual Art, featured approximately 80 of the wildest chairs you’ve ever seen, including one called the “walking Chair” which was so contorted, there is no possible way you could sit in one.  Held at 11000 Regency Parkway, the chairs lined down both sides of the main entrance and made for a great spectacle.  Catering was provided by the Hibernian Pub, the event was a huge success with the top bid being $1500 for, you guessed it, the walking chair.

As an added Bonus, the Mayor of Cary, Ernie McAlister, lent the audience his stellar talents on guitar and backup vocal for a rendition of “Brown Eyed Girl”.
