The Honorable Harold Weinbrecht - Mayor of Cary, NC

Again, the opportunities I get to meet and photograph interesting people in the area are astounding. I know people who would pay for my job - not much, but I could wrench a quarter or so out of them. :) I worked with the new Mayor of Cary, Harold Weinbrecht, in his office for a little more informal portraiture work. I got a chance to listen to Harold speak about his plans for Cary, including growth, the impending drought and other various topics. I was very impressed with his style of speaking on important issues, something I can best describe as “casual candor”. I just found out today that Cary has over 100,000 people living in it, making it the seventh largest city. “It’s no longer a bedroom community of Raleigh” was one memorable quote from the Mayor. It was my pleasure to work with him today and I look forward to seeing him around Cary in other events. As always, here’s a few photos from the session:

Charlie Adams - Executive Director of the NCHSAA

Lemme say, you sure can meet alot of really interesting folks when your a photographer. Charlie Adams is the Exceutive Director of the NCHSAA (North Carolina High School Athletic Association). The NCHSAA is a voluntary, non-profit corporation which administers the state’s interscholastic athletic program. I forgot to ask Charlie when he started, but I had the impression he has been there for some time and really enjoys each day. Their office is stacked from wall to wall with Jerseys, Helmets, Basketballs, Footballs and general sports memorabilia. It was truly an honor and a pleasure to be given the grand tour of their building and to have a few minutes with such a great personality. Here’s a couple photos from the shoot:

CEO Roundtable on Cancer

I had the great pleasure of meeting with Dr. Martin Murphy, COO of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer this week. The organization, based on the SAS Campus in Cary, NC was founded my Mr. Robert A. Ingram and is comprised of corporate executives from major American companies from diverse industries. The roundtable was originally convened at former president George Bush’s request in 2001 with one purpose in mind, to eliminate cancer. By involving the CEO’s of major corporations, the roundtable has made great strides in helping major US Corporations create a healthier workforce as well as their families.

The CEO Cancer Gold Standard was adopted by the group as the premiere standard by which companies could adopt into their own workforce. Healthier foods, smoking cessation and education are but a few ways the standard creates a healthier environment for companies and, in turn, leads to higher productivity, fewer illnesses and longer lives.

I would like to write more about this wonderful organization, but I just can’t do it justice. Please visit their website (linked above) to find out more about it. Here’s a few photos of Dr. Murphy in and around the SAS campus.

New Year, New Look, New Restaraunt

Considering it’s the new year, and I’ve already broken my resolutions, I figured its time to get to the next item on my list. I’m in the process of re-branding and updating my website. One thing you will notice is my new logo, courtesy of Smith & Associates. I’ve got an aggressive marketing plan in place for 2008 and this is the first step of it. So enjoy the new look, excuse my dust as the upgrades happen and, as always, enjoy my blog!

I was at Herons restaurant today focusing on the facility, the food and the fabulous chefs! Between Chef Phil and Chef Daniel, there were 9 plates served up consisting of 6 appetizer/entrees and 3 desserts. If you’ve never been to or heard of Herons, it’s located in the Umstead Hotel in Cary, NC. This will be the 2nd time I’ve been involved with photography at this location and, WOW, it still is such an impressive place to walk into. I’ll definitely be going back with my wife for dinner because the ambiance and the food is to die for! Enjoy the photos!

January NACE Event - Rigsbee Hall - Durham, NC

Earlier this week I attended my 1st NACE event as a member.  I also happened to be the stand-in historian for the evening so I arrived early with camera in tow.  Rigsbee Hall in Durham is a newer facility that really has endless possibilities.   The space is fairly wide open and can easily accommodate 150 guests and boasts such features as a catering kitchen, video projector with drop down screen, (coming soon) wireless internet, and works with some of the best vendors in the area to truly make your evening “one of a kind”.  The main attraction for the evening was a fashion show emceed by Mark Day.  The event showcased various styles of both executive or party wear as well as event staff fashion.  Overall the evening was a smashing success and I look forward to attending the next event!
