Brendan & Ivelca - Raleigh, NC Wedding

I had the great pleasure and honor of working with Brendan & Ivelca Nintzel this weekend for their wedding. I met these two a few months back on our initial consultation and I literally couldn’t wait to capture their wedding memories. Such a great couple and totally in love with each other made this a real pleasure to shoot. Brendan works in the Army and was sporting his dress blues for the evening and Ivelca took everyones breath away with a stunning dress.

Their wedding took place on 2/2/08 at the RTP Hilton in Durham/RTP. As Ivelca, Sandra (maid of honor) and myself came down in the elevator, we stopped on another floor and as the doors opened, all I could hear was a gasp and exclamation of “Oh how beautiful”. I think that could sum up the entire evening with one passing statement. The wedding and reception went off beautifully and the hotel didn’t even mind so much when the bride laid on top of the piano. :)

Congratulations to the both of you! It was my pleasure to work with such an adoring and caring couple!

Yes, I’m still here!

Sorry for the lack of updates recently.  I was inundated with shoots last week then I had the fortune of catching the flu this weekend.  I’ll be posting some shots of that later but for now, I wanted to post a quick one that I caught while shooting in Vaughn Towers (Just outside the chancellors box at the NCSU football stadium).

Cary, NC C.E.R.T. training

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a local CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training session this weekend. The team stages an emergency situation in an abandoned house and the CERT team members go in to action as first responders. The first part of the training was using dry fire extinguishers to suppress a fire on the deck of the house. Working with a buddy, they team up to approach the fire and extinguish it using Chem-Dry. The only reason I mention chem-dry is that fact I got doused with a cloud of it shortly after taking the below shot. It tastes awful and is pretty hard to breathe in… the fireman who was with me got a chuckle out of me hacking and sputtering while in the “cloud” of dust.

Next stage was searching for and rescuing injured people inside the house. It involved carrying both 200 pound dummies & live people playing injured. It’s a great program and there was only one casualty from the training - the live fireman playing a part as an injured person lost part of his right eyebrow in a bizarre duck tape head immobilization technique. Don’t worry, it’ll grow back. :)

Hair Saloon… for men!

Being busy is always a good thing.  In fact, I’ve actually written that as a goal in my business plan - to become so busy that it forces me to be more efficient.  Well, I’ve succeeded in the first goal now I need to accomplish the 2nd one.  Time will tell I suppose…

On the subject of being busy, I swung by the Hair Saloon for Men in the Cary Arboretum last week to check out their “five star service”. As soon as I walked in the door, it said”comfortable” to me.  With checker tables, a shoeshine booth, putting green and a very accommodating staff, I was very tempted to go under the clippers myself.  Although those that know my wife understand that I would be in the doghouse for “cheating” on her (She is also a hair stylist).

The whole service goes something like this: Cold soda, shampoo, haircut, hot towel & shoe shine, all for one low price.   I really anticipate this store having alot of success in this area with the current lack of “guys” saloons.  Here’s a few photos to wet your appetite.
