I had the great pleasure of meeting with Dr. Martin Murphy, COO of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer this week. The organization, based on the SAS Campus in Cary, NC was founded my Mr. Robert A. Ingram and is comprised of corporate executives from major American companies from diverse industries. The roundtable was originally convened at former president George Bush’s request in 2001 with one purpose in mind, to eliminate cancer. By involving the CEO’s of major corporations, the roundtable has made great strides in helping major US Corporations create a healthier workforce as well as their families.
The CEO Cancer Gold Standard was adopted by the group as the premiere standard by which companies could adopt into their own workforce. Healthier foods, smoking cessation and education are but a few ways the standard creates a healthier environment for companies and, in turn, leads to higher productivity, fewer illnesses and longer lives.
I would like to write more about this wonderful organization, but I just can’t do it justice. Please visit their website (linked above) to find out more about it. Here’s a few photos of Dr. Murphy in and around the SAS campus.
