For those that know me, I am always up for photographing different things. I truly believe pushing my own boundaries, both technically and artistically, makes me a better photographer in every aspect. This past weekend I had the opportunity to shoot the Carolina Crown MMA event held at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC. Yes, a very far cry from weddings or commercial photography but definitely with its own set of challenges. If you are not into MMA then you may want to skip the photos below (nothing bad by any means, but it is indeed a contact sport).
The evening was packed with fights & music. 14 fights in all and a local band performing for both the opening bout and intermission between the amateur & professional matches. The evening was packed with excitement and the athletes, band, promoters and referees all did an outstanding job to bring MMA back to the triangle. A special thanks to Doug Muhle for lobbying to legalize MMA in North Carolina and putting on a great event!
