Since deciding to pursue Senior Portraits in Raleigh NC the response from area high school seniors has been overwhelming. Wow! That’s all I can say for this one. Photographing seniors is a huge artistic release for me as I don’t have the time constraints I normally do with other types of photography and, artistically speaking, I can definitely follow a vision to completion and make a great connection with my client!
I love mixing up my style a bit for my my senior portraits in Raleigh NC. This gives us good safe photos to begin the session with then we can get more creative, edgy and fun as the session goes on. This works really well for a few reasons, the most important being my client and I get more comfortable with each other through the session. I have so much fun with senior portrait sessions because we are all out to have a good time and get great photos, both go hand in hand and my latest session was no different.
When Emily and her Mom and I initially met, we decided to have the session in an open field and barn near my house. They moved from Kansas recently to the Raleigh area and wanted to keep a “Kansas” feel to the photos as many of her friends and family are still in that area and, well, that’s what she liked! The day of the shoot we had a couple of ideas for props, such as her clarinet, books and journal, all of which are important to her. We worked all of the elements into the shoot as well as the look and feel of Kansas. As the day moved on and the sun went down, we definitely went to more of an edgy fashion look as with less natural light to use, it’s easier to add drama with lighting and as Emily changed into a prom dress, well, it just all fit!
After the session was over, I was thrilled with the results and really looking forward to shooting more senior portraits in Raleigh NC over the upcoming year. I hope you enjoy a few choice photos below!
