Victoria & Billy | Duke Chapel & Bay 7 Wedding

Even though my photography studio is based in Apex, I shoot weddings in and around the triangle every weekend.  Two locations that are not only my favorite to photograph, but are just stunning to work in are Duke Chapel & Bay 7 on the American Tobacco Campus.  Both venues are stunning examples of Architecture in Durham but, at the same time, are far different from each other.

Victoria & Billy’s Duke Chapel wedding was one I had been looking forward to ever since they booked.  Both were so happy to let me do, well, whatever with them for portraits and being able to photograph in both of those venues on the same day just stamped their big day into my memory.  Having a wedding day like this just makes me giddy, yes, giddy.

Their ceremony at the chapel went beautifully, as they always do.  The staff there is really top notch and its such a pleasure shooting weddings there.  After the ceremony and family formals, we headed outside and braved the July heat to photograph just them in the arcades.  This really is my favorite location on the whole chapel campus because of the architecture and the way the light comes thru the openings.  From there, we went to Duke Gardens with the entire wedding party for some “less formal” stuff.

There’s one thing about Bay 7 Weddings that gets me so excited every time I am there – the campus!  The architecture there is simply a stunning example of urban reclamation.  Since we had already photographed plenty of “pretty” daytime portraits, we had a chance to go back out that evening and shoot some night wedding portraits (which is one of my favorite things to do).   Throughout the day, I just thoroughly enjoyed myself and working with such an amazing couple and their family.

I hope you enjoy a few photos from their Bay 7 wedding!
