Downtown Raleigh Engagement Session | Mandy & Cary

As spring descends here in North Carolina (as well as the pollen), I had the honor of heading out with my wedding clients, Mandy & Cary, to take some Raleigh engagement pictures for them.  If you read my blog, you’ll already know my approach to things…  get a “feel” for my clients personality and set the session in an area that will compliment their styles & tastes.  In this case, Mandy & Cary are having their wedding in downtown Raleigh so, well, that’s where we also shot their engagement pictures.

We started very close to Fayetteville St using  a cool walkway with some newly blooming trees in the background.  We moved down towards Moore Square as they also brought their 4 legged family member with them and we needed so grass time.  I don’t do a lot of pet photography but I’ve had a shot in mind for some time that I wanted to do, and this was a great opportunity.  After a friend picked up their dog, we kept strolling around the downtown Raleigh area hitting a few familiar places but also discovering quite a few new ones that, frankly, I got really excited about.  For me, I follow the light instead of the place.

We also headed up to the Stockroom, where their wedding reception will be, and got some impromptu shots.  When we came outside, the sun had set and we finished off the evening with some very cool twilight photography that really shows off how gorgeous the downtown area, and my couple, are when put together.  As always, here are a few shots from their session!  I hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much Barbara! I am truly flattered. Hope you are doing well!ReplyCancel

  • Great shoot, Brian.
I love it that the couple wanted some photos in more formal clothing. So many engagement shoots are all casual.
Great use of light, as usual!ReplyCancel

  • Brian these portraits are so relaxed and natural. The little friend make it so amazing. Great work!ReplyCancel

The Bliss girls really like the way the shoot went from “day to night”. So often engagement photos are stagnant, meaning beautiful photos, but one dimensional. It’s really nice to see this couple transition before our eyes. Great job! We second Rev. Barbara Lodge’s comment!ReplyCancel

What a GREAT looking couple. Your images are so nice, crisp and clean. Love the compositions and your use of light. My favorites are the 9th or 10th one down, where she is smiling and you can’t see his face. Then the one’s where they look like they are standing in front of a “go around” door. Maybe a hotel lobby or something. All the squares and lines are great!ReplyCancel
